about our cards
Occasionally Speaking brings you simply sophisticated correspondence cards printed with soy ink on 100% cotton stationery imported from Italy. Each card is letterpress printed with care on a vintage Kluge press. The artisan paper measures 3 ½ inches wide by 5 ¼ inches tall and includes a subtle deckle edge on all sides. The front of each card details an inspiring famous quotation while the inside remains blank for your personal message. The cards lend themselves beautifully to an array of occasions, are appropriate for personal and professional correspondence and appeal to men and women alike. We invite you to discover the simple elegance of our line and thank you for your interest in our cards.

We’ve created our fine notes with quotes because we value the art of communication and know how very important it is to be in the moment…occasionally speaking, that is!

our story

Being in the moment is essential and, in this case, was the inspiration for Occasionally Speaking, which comes to us from Chicago-based artistic entrepreneur Bridget Verdun. The formally trained graphic designer and art gallery owner tells us that for years she nurtured a desire to create a line of specialty greeting cards, but it wasn’t until she was in a very real moment that she discovered the exact look, feel and niche for the cards.

As a business person and networker Verdun finds herself, like many, swimming in an endless sea of e-mail and is delighted on the rare occasion to receive a correspondence via good old-fashioned snail mail. With this in mind, she sends cards often as occasions arise. On a chilly Chicago winter day she ventured from her office in search of cards for multiple occasions. Upon arriving snow covered at the corner drugstore she found an unimpressive selection of mass-produced cards that were far from ideal. Though disappointed, this was a good day, as the idea for Occasionally Speaking was realized!

At that moment Verdun envisioned a set of cards to keep on hand, beautifully designed, simple and elegant, for professional and personal correspondence use alike. That evening a rough draft of the line was sketched and today, after much research, many iterations and an unwavering desire to offer a truly refined product Bridget invites you to experience the creativity and quality of her line.
